The marriage of the Lamb

« Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready." It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb '" And he said to me, "These are true words of God. »

Revelation 19:7-9

The 27th of August 2016 was one of the most important days of my life. My little girl Reanna, who is now all grown up, got married. It was a very touching and emotional day for me - no big surprise there. One of the most memorable moments of the day for me was the walk to the alter.

As I began to walk Réanna down the aisle I looked at David, her husband to be. He was so focused on her, like there was no one else in the room. And then it occurred to me, that this is how Jesus must look at His church. David had waited impatiently for this day; and now his heart was exploding with emotion. And I had to think that this is probably how Jesus will feel on the day His church rises to meet Him in the clouds.

Then I noticed Pastor Jean-Pierre, David’s father, standing just behind him to the right. Jean-Pierre was looking at his son with the most amazing look of pride, joyful that this day had finally come. And it occurred to me that on the final day when the church, the bride of Christ, rises to heaven for the wedding feast, the Father will most certainly look at Jesus in the same way.

It was just an amazing moment for me as I held Réanna on my arm. She, the church; David, Jesus; and Jean-Pierre, the heavenly Father. But then an amazing revelation came to me.

I was playing the role of the Holy Spirit. It is He that will bring the church-bride to Christ, her lover and Redeemer. And I realized in that moment that my mission in life had been to bring Réanna to this day, and to bring her to David.

In the same way the Holy Spirit’s mission in this life is to bring His church to that final celestial wedding ceremony. And there is nothing that He will allow to deter Him in that mission.

Prayer to pray : Thank you Jesus because you are coming soon to get Your bride, the Church. Holy Spirit, I ask you to keep working in our lives and in our hearts, to purify us and renew us, so that we may be a spotless Church ready to meet her Church at the eternal altar. Amen
